Carol represented all of British Columbia in the Toastmasters International World Championships of Public Speaking, making her one of the top 18 speakers in the Toastmasters world that year. She also was the Executive Director of Toastmasters District 21 in the year 2017-2018.
Carol has been teaching at APASS Education since 2015 and brought many students to international public speaking competition stages and grow to inspirational speakers.
Anna – Public Speaking / Debate
Anna Hwang graduated with High Distinction at UC Berkeley, earning her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Since 2013, she has won awards at over 20 debate tournaments, which is to say that her passion for public speaking has never dwindled. While attending university, she fostered her interest in debate by joining Parliamentary Debate at Berkeley: the most competitively successful student-run debate team in the history of the National Parliamentary Debate Association. She is beyond excited to teach, but more importantly, be inspired by the next generation of eager debaters.
Fiona Wang has a Master of Arts degree in Criminology from Ryerson University, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from University of British Columbia (UBC) . Fiona also obtained her Human Resources Management Certificate from Simon Fraser University. Fiona is a member of the Law Society of Ontario and currently work at BC’s largest law firm, assisting lawyers.
Fiona understands that knowledge is power, which is why she has decided to share her passion with the educational community. Currently, her areas of teaching include English, Psychology, Public Speaking and Debate, Employment law and general Language Arts courses.
Julie has facilitated for hugely successful organizations such as TEDX, UBC Science & Engineering Dept, Peak Potentials, Master Training, Warrior Sage and World Luminaries among others. She is no stranger to working with individuals and groups as a speaker coach and acting teacher to more than a thousand students from all walks of life for the past 20 years. She is an expert at introducing people to the craft of acting with Scene study, Film & TV and Auditioning. As a coach, she inspires students to work with passion and conviction and to be a more effective and powerful actor.
Emad – Debate / Public Speaking / Model UN Conferences
With five condensed years of experience in Debate, Model UN and Public Speaking, Emad is a knowledgeable and passionate orator and instructor. Emad taught Lincoln-Douglas, Public Forum, and World style debate classes and his students reached the quarter-final stage of competitions at Stanford, and Harvard in 2017, 2018, and 2019 respectively. His Model UN classes have received honourable mention awards for conferences at the UN Headquarters in New York in 2018 and 2019. In addition, Emad helped students succeed at the Scholar’s Cup tournament for 2018, 2019, and 2020. Scholar’s Cup is a large, international competition testing younger students on their essay writing and public speaking skills. Be it impromptu debate strategy to conducting delicate research for a specific debate format and motion, Emad goes above and beyond to make sure his students learn and enjoy the art of public speaking.
